"Drowning in the Net" Lyrics & Words by De Garassie the 4th (出涸し文四郎)
**Drowning in the Net**
Lyrics & Words by De Garassie the 4th(出涸し文四郎)
*This piece was written with deep respect for Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.”*
*It’s not an imitation, but a reflection — from a different era, with the same ache.*
(この作品は、ボブ・ディランの「風に吹かれて」に深い敬意を表して書きました。
模倣ではなく、時代が変わっても存在する“痛み” を反映するために。)

Lyrics by De Garassie the 4th(出涸し文四郎)
How many truths can a timeline bend
Before we call it a lie?
How many scrolls must a seeker slide
Before he forgets to ask why?
How many eyes must be watching you
Before you forget how to cry?
The answer’s too deep, the signal too wet
It’s drowning, drowning, it's drowning in the net.
How many likes will a lost soul chase
Before they feel alive?
How many posts will a heart repost
Before it can’t survive?
How many voices all shout at once
Before silence starts to thrive?
The answer’s not gone, but buried and set
Just drowning, drowning, just downing in the net.
How many lies must a child decode
Before she learns not to trust?
How many facts can the world absorb
Before they all turn to dust?
How many dreams can a screen consume
Before they’re covered in rust?
The answer once flew, now it's caught like a threat
It’s drowning, drowning, it's drowning in the net.
Yes, and how do you know what’s real anymore
When the truth's just a viral bet?
Yes, and how do you hear the voice of your soul
In a world so loud and upset?
The answer’s still out there, but tangled and wet.
It’s drowning, drowning, it's drowning in the net.
Still drowning, drowning, still drowning in the net.
END
This poem was born in late March 2025.
In this era of information overload,
everyone is “connected,” yet no one seems to “have the answer.”
Smartphones, social media, endless scrolling...
We can access knowledge in seconds,
but the power to ask ourselves “why?”
— that seems to be fading away, little by little.
As a modern answer to Dylan’s iconic “Blowin’ in the Wind,”
I carried over the structure of “How many ~?”
and layered my own questions — from this place, in this time.

情報過多の現代社会。誰もが“繋がっている”のに、誰も“答えを見つけられていないようです。
Bob Dylanの名曲『Blowin' in the Wind』が生まれてから60年以上が過ぎました。

In my next post, I’ll be sharing a more structurally driven piece of modern social poetry titled **"Unreal World."**
If you're drawn to this blog, I hope you’ll stay with me for what’s to come.
I’m also planning to share a live acoustic version of **“Drowning in the Net”** soon.
Stay tuned.
